Yes — most hardware is covered under the manufacturer’s or our warranty.
Regulations, Planning Permission & Building Control
Usually not if like-for-like in a non-listed building within permitted development. Permission may be needed in conservation areas, for listed buildings, or if changing appearance/size substantially. We advise checking with your local planning authority.
Replacement windows often don’t require building control if they are like-for-like, but new structural openings, fire escapes, and certain conservatory/orangery works may. We can advise and, where required, submit building control applications or provide compliance certificates.
For works affecting shared walls (rare for windows) or foundations for conservatory bases, Party Wall Agreements may be needed. We can advise and recommend surveyors if necessary.
Sometimes — works to listed buildings usually need Listed Building Consent and specific materials/styles (e.g., timber). We can supply sympathetic solutions and liaise with authorities where possible.
Conservatories & Orangeries — Specific
Conservatories are mainly glazed structures with a glass roof; orangeries have a more substantial brick/engineered base and a solid roof with glazed lanterns — orangeries typically offer better insulation and a more solid appearance.
Yes — conservatory bases require foundations to building standards (depth depends on soil and frost lines). Lightweight conservatory pods may use slab bases but most need proper foundations.
With insulated roofs, cavity walls, double/triple glazing and heating options, modern conservatories/orangeries can be used year-round. Classic glass roofs without insulation can be very hot in summer and cold in winter.
Many conservatories fall under permitted development, but size, location, height, and whether the property is listed or in a conservation area affect this. Large or raised structures may require planning permission.
Glass roofs, tiled/insulated solid roofs, hybrid roofs (combination glass and solid), roof lanterns. Solid roofs improve thermal performance.
Doors — Specific
A composite door has a timber or engineered core covered by GRP or other high-performance finishes — offering strength, thermal efficiency and a wood-like appearance with lower maintenance.
Patio (sliding) doors slide along tracks and are space-efficient; bi-fold doors fold and stack to one or both sides offering a wider opening and seamless internal/external flow.
We offer low-threshold and DDA-compliant options for doors. Specify accessibility needs at survey.
Yes — sidelights, glazing panels, letterboxes and accessories are available and must be specified for manufacture.
Energy, Efficiency & Noise
Upgrading from single glazing to modern double/triple glazing with low-E glass and insulated frames typically improves insulation and can reduce heating bills and heat loss.
Acoustic glass and well-sealed frames can significantly reduce external noise (specific dB reductions depend on product). We can recommend acoustic packages for noisy locations.
Condensation inside the sealed unit indicates seal failure and is usually a glazing manufacturer’s fault — sealed units are typically covered under warranty and would be replaced.
Guarantees, Warranties & Insurance
Typical cover includes: 10-year guarantee on frames and sealed units, 5–10 years on hardware, and installation workmanship guarantees (varies). Always check the paperwork for exact terms.
Some warranties are transferable — others are not. Transfer conditions and administration fees (if any) will be specified in the warranty documents.
Yes — we carry appropriate insurance. We can provide certificates on request.
Contact us, we’ll arrange to inspect and repair under warranty where applicable. For non-warranty issues we’ll provide a quotation.
Maintenance & Care
Clean frames with soapy water (no abrasive cleaners), lubricate hinges and locks annually, check seals and drainage weep holes. Avoid solvent-based cleaners on foils and stainless steel cleaners on hardware.
Annually is recommended — cleaning and applying light lubricant to moving parts will extend life and performance.
uPVC can be wrapped/foiled in different colours; painting uPVC is not usually recommended as it can void warranties. Colour options are best chosen at manufacture.
Quality, Standards & Certification
Yes — our windows/doors comply with relevant BS and European standards (e.g., BS EN for glass, PAS 24 for security). Specific certificates are available on request.
Our installers are manufacturer-trained and experienced. We can provide training/certificate details on request.
Costs, Payments & Finance
Costs depend on size, style, glass, hardware and finish. We provide itemised written quotes after survey. Typical ranges depend on product and specification..
Deposit policies vary — commonly 10–40% on order with balance on completion. Details will be in the contract.
Yes — all quotes are fixed for the validity period unless the customer changes the specification. Any unforeseen structural work will be quoted before proceeding.
Health & Safety
Our teams comply with current HSE guidance, use PPE, maintain tidy sites and follow safe working procedures including safe ladder/scaffold use.
There will be some noise/dust during removal and installation — we protect floors, clear debris, and tidy daily. Conservatory builds are more intrusive than single-window replacements.
Troubleshooting & Aftercare Issues
Check locks/handles are fully engaged; seals may be dirty/damaged. Contact us and we’ll inspect and adjust or repair as needed.
Could be misalignment, swollen frames, or hardware needs lubrication. We’ll attend to adjust and service.
Damage from installation should be covered; accidental customer damage is not. Contact us immediately for assessment.
Leaks can be due to sealant, flashings, or rainwater outlets. Contact us for an urgent inspection; warranty may cover faults.
Environmental & Recycling
We aim to recycle PVCu profiles, glass and metal where facilities exist.
Many profiles are recyclable; energy-efficient glazing reduces carbon emissions.
Accessibility & Special Requirements
Yes — restrictors, safety locks, low thresholds and pet flaps (in doors) can be specified.
Yes — we offer low thresholds, wider doors and lever hardware. State requirements at survey.
Contract & Consumer Rights
Yes — every job is covered by a written order/contract detailing scope, price and warranty.
Under UK consumer law you have 14 days’ cooling-off for distance contracts (if purchased off premises or online). For bespoke manufacturing, cancellation may incur costs. Check your contract.
We have an internal complaints process. If unresolved, you can seek independent ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) or contact Trading Standards or your consumer protection body — we will provide ADR details if needed.

Why It Is Important to Keep House Gutters in Good Condition
Gutters may not be the most glamorous feature of a home, but they play a vital role in protecting the structure and maintaining its long-term value. Designed to channel rainwater away from the roof and foundations, gutters safeguard against a variety of problems that can be costly and inconvenient if left unchecked. Keeping gutters in good condition is not just a matter of appearance—it is an essential aspect of responsible homeownership.
Preventing Water Damage
The primary function of gutters is to direct rainwater safely away from the roof, walls, and foundations. When gutters are blocked or damaged, water can overflow and seep into the fabric of the building. This can cause damp patches, rotting wood, peeling paint, and even structural weakening of walls. Over time, unchecked water ingress may lead to serious damage that requires expensive repairs. Well-maintained gutters provide an effective defence against these risks.
Protecting the Foundations
A home’s foundations are particularly vulnerable to water damage. If gutters fail to direct rainwater away properly, it can pool around the base of the house, soaking into the soil and undermining stability. This may result in foundation cracks, subsidence, or shifting, which are not only costly to fix but can compromise the safety of the entire structure. By ensuring gutters remain clear and functional, homeowners protect the ground around their property and avoid potentially severe consequences.
Avoiding Roof Problems
Blocked gutters can also affect the roof itself. Water trapped in clogged systems may back up beneath roof tiles or shingles, leading to leaks and water damage inside the home. In colder months, this trapped water can freeze, creating ice dams that place extra pressure on the roof structure. Regular gutter maintenance helps preserve roof integrity, extending its lifespan and reducing the likelihood of unexpected repair bills.
Preventing Pest Infestations
Leaves, moss, and other organic debris that accumulate in gutters create an inviting habitat for pests such as birds, insects, and rodents. Once established, these pests can cause further blockages or even move into the loft space, creating hygiene and health concerns. Clean, clear gutters reduce the chance of infestations and make it harder for unwanted visitors to settle near the home.
Preserving Landscaping and External Areas
When gutters overflow, water often cascades onto flowerbeds, patios, or driveways below. This uncontrolled flow can erode soil, damage plants, and cause unsightly staining on paving and walls. Maintaining gutters ensures that rainwater is directed to designated drainage areas, protecting both the home and its surrounding landscape.
Saving Money in the Long Term
Ultimately, regular gutter care is a simple preventative measure that saves money. Minor issues such as loose brackets, small leaks, or blockages can be resolved quickly and inexpensively. Left unchecked, however, these problems escalate into major repairs, from foundation reinforcement to roof replacement. Investing time in maintenance—whether through DIY checks or professional cleaning—pays dividends by avoiding far greater costs later.
Conclusion
Keeping house gutters in good condition is about more than appearance. It is a practical, cost-effective way to protect the structure, preserve the home’s value, and provide peace of mind. By making gutter maintenance part of regular household care, homeowners safeguard their property against avoidable damage and ensure it remains secure, safe, and attractive for years to come.
